Enexis continues to invest at a high pace in expanding and reinforcing the energy grid. Gross capital expenditure amounted to €1,083 million in the first half of 2026, an increase of €194 million compared with the same period last year. These investments are necessary to meet the growing demand for transmission capacity driven by the energy transition and to safeguard the grid's future security of supply. The increase in gross capital expenditure was mainly attributable to:
-
€174 million higher capital expenditure in the electricity and gas grids (including smart meters). Growing customer demand driven by the energy transition mainly led to increased investment in expanding and improving the electricity grid. As a result, investments in the electricity grid increased by 21% compared with the first half of 2025. The increase in investments in the gas grid primarily reflects replacement investments.
-
€20 million higher other investments, including increased ICT-related investments.
Customer contributions amounted to €63 million, in line with the first half of 2025. As a result, net capital expenditure amounted to €1,020 million, an increase of €194 million compared with the first half of 2025.
The table below presents gross investments (excluding customer contributions) in the electricity and gas grids and smart meters, as well as other investments, in the first half of 2026.
